In summary
The big news is the continued increase in the value of spend going through the G-Cloud framework with the latest three months continuing to average over £60m.
The March record of £69m is looking under pressure. The latest figures are for July at £62m. Usually the month after data is released the latest month spend is updated by about 15% as late returns from suppliers are included. If that holds true, then July could be the first £70m month.
The future
As yet, we are not seeing a slowing of spend via G-Cloud as the Digital Outcomes and Specialists (DOS) framework takes off. We expect spend to move from G-Cloud Lot 4 to DOS over time but there is no evidence to support that as yet.
Supplier and Buyer growth
Growth in the number of buyers and suppliers has been resiliently positive each month since the launch of the framework, with approx. 20 new buyers and 15 new suppliers being added each month. This is pretty impressive expansion of the use of the G-Cloud framework
- The number of customers continues - up 15 (bringing the total to 1225).
- The number of suppliers is growing - up 11 (bringing the total to 866).

Overall framework stats
- Total spend via G-Cloud is £1,393m
- Spend by year is £413 (to end Jul) £533m in 2015, £352m in 2014, £87m in 2013 and £6.6m in 2012.
- Spend with Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) continues at pace - £244m (59%) in 2016 so far, £288m in 2015, £172m in 2014 with £42m in 2013.
- Spend has is steady, averaging around £60m per month.
We did not publish a news update for August 2016 as Cabinet Office did not publish the July data until the end of September.
